Role SummaryThe Commercial Director/COO will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for delivering the company's strategic goals. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise and commercial acumen to drive business growth, operational efficiency, and strategic development.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering within the energy sector, combined with significant experience in commercial management.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company goals. Drive business growth through strategic planning and market analysis. Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to shape the company's vision and long-term strategy.
- Operational Management: Oversee daily operations across multiple sites, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness. Lead and effectively manage the teams. Effectively manage contractors and supply chain. Implement robust processes and systems to enhance productivity and operational performance.
- Commercial Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships. Develop and manage client relationships to drive sales and revenue growth. Negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Engineering Oversight: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team. Determine the key development pathways, manage the entire developmental cycle. Ensure the successful delivery of engineering projects on time and within budget. Promote innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
- Financial Management: Oversee budget planning, financial forecasting, and performance reporting. Ensure cost-effective operations and maximise profitability. Manage risks and opportunities to safeguard the company's financial health.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably in a related field such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering). An MBA or equivalent commercial qualification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the energy and engineering sector, with a significant portion in a senior commercial or operational role.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale engineering projects and commercial operations.
- Strong understanding of the energy market, regulatory environment, and industry trends.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel extensively and manage multiple site operations.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Commercially astute with a keen understanding of business finance and market dynamics.
- Effective team leader with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proficient in project management and operational optimisation.
- Technical skills in either wind energy products, electrical generation or adjacent areas.
