About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Play Specialist to join our Outreach Services team at Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. As a Play Specialist, you will be responsible for providing therapeutic and generic play and leisure activities for babies, children, and young people at Rainbows, creating meaningful and enjoyable memories in a safe and caring environment.

Main Duties

As a Play Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring all children have access to play and planning appropriate activities based on a child's needs
  • Providing assistance, guidance, and leadership to the wider Play Team
  • Supporting the team by overseeing all activities, promoting and maintaining good teamwork, and working alongside the Family Support Lead on any Employee Relation activities

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • Fully Qualified with Foundation Degree in Healthcare Play Specialism and registered with HPSET
  • Experience with babies and children of all ages (0-18 years)
  • Experience with babies and children with complex needs
  • Effective communication skills with babies, children, young people, and families
  • Ability to teach and support other team members
  • Good teamwork
  • Experience of working independently without supervision
