The Role & Responsibilities

We are expanding our team of Control and Contact Handlers and invite you to be part of this essential service. For many individuals, our Control and Contact Handlers serve as the initial point of interaction with the police, whether through phone calls or digital communications. Our department is not merely a call center; it represents the forefront of our operational response.

Your Responsibilities.

A Control and Contact Handler plays a crucial role in maintaining safety in Sussex.

You will manage a diverse range of emergency 999 calls, non-emergency 101 calls, and online inquiries. The scenarios you encounter will reflect the varied communities we serve, requiring engagement with individuals from all walks of life.

Our Control and Contact Handlers must balance empathy with professionalism, ensuring they remain composed while addressing challenging situations.

Providing outstanding customer service to the public and Sussex Police colleagues is paramount.

Qualifications & Experience

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be 18 years or older at the time of application.
  • Must have resided in the UK for three consecutive years prior to application.
  • Must not be a current or former member of a proscribed terrorist organization.
  • Must not have served a prison sentence.
