About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Regional Director to lead and manage our businesses in Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa (ECAMENA) region. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving growth and revenue generation in line with our mission and values, and divisional strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy Development: Develop, direct, and lead the implementation of a regional vision and strategy that aligns with and supports the strategies of the ELT Division and OUP overall.
  • Financial Objectives & Reporting: Achieve the financial objectives agreed in the budget and report quantitatively and qualitatively at agreed times, in agreed formats, on plans, progress and results.
  • Sales Promotion: Optimise the promotion of OUP's products and services across the region, in doing so optimising market share, financial results and delivering effective return on investment.
  • Product Insight: Provide timely, market-relevant input to investment decisions and to help steer the development of creative and appropriate products, collaborating closely with colleagues in Product Management throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Marketing: Ensure effective marketing of OUP products and services in the region by leading marketing plans and reviewing the results, working closely with colleagues in the Global Marketing team.
  • Governance and Ethical Practices: Take all appropriate steps and set a positive tone from the top to ensure that there is full awareness of, and compliance with, OUP's anti-bribery and ethical policies and procedures.
  • Human Resources: Develop, empower, and engage the regional team, creating a culture of collaboration and teamwork, ensuring the teams are equipped to do their role and motivated to do so.
  • Relationships within OUP: Maintain regular contact and good relationships with colleagues in the region, Group Functions, UK, and globally in order to maximise market opportunities and collaboration.
  • Public Image: Ensure that the public image of OUP in the region is consistent with furthering the global mission and objectives by ensuring adherence to the highest standards in publishing service and professional business behaviour.
About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled individual with a strong track record of success in educational publishing and/or English assessment. You will have:

  • Significant experience in a general leadership and management role, or in leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to use a data-driven approach to planning, business monitoring and decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-cultural awareness and proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships, both face to face and remotely.
  • Fluency in English to business level.
