Job Title: Senior Social Worker - Fostering Service

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Fostering Service team at Wakefield Council. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring the well-being and safety of children in care, working closely with foster carers, social workers, and other stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcomes.

About the Role:
  • Lead a team of social workers in the Fostering Service, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality practice.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve the lives of children in care, working in partnership with foster carers, schools, and other agencies.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and reviews, making informed decisions to ensure the best interests of children are met.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisory Team to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote the welfare of children in care.
  • Provide training and support to social workers to enhance their skills and knowledge in child care and protection.
Requirements:
  • Qualified and registered Social Worker with at least 2 years post-qualifying experience.
  • Proven track record of working with children in care and foster carers, with a strong understanding of child protection and welfare principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing a caseload of varying needs and complexities.
