Electrical Design Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at CV Library. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for industrial equipment, with a focus on hazardous areas and Ex compliant machines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop electrical systems for industrial equipment, including electrical drawings and specifications.
  2. Contribute to the design of components and electrical enclosures for industrial vehicles.
  3. Specify suitable Ex certified primary traction batteries for equipment.
  4. Define electrical enclosure layouts and population.
  5. Conceive design solutions to achieve optimal execution cost.
  6. Specify product test requirements to support compliance activities.
  7. Produce documentation to support product certification and prepare product risk assessments.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of electrical and electronic systems.
  2. Proficient in using AutoCAD Electrical and other relevant design software.
  3. HND / Degree or equivalent in electrical, electronics, or automotive engineering.
  4. Experience of working in a highly regulated environment, with knowledge of CE marking and technical construction files.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Design of electrical machine systems and controls.
  2. A broad knowledge of electrical and electronic control systems, including industrial controllers, PLCs, and AC invertors.
  3. CAN protocol knowledge and experience of working with hazardous area regulations and design standards.
