Within the European region, Marsh Specialty encompasses various sectors including Aviation, Construction, Credit Specialties, Cyber, Marine and Cargo, Energy and Power, FINPRO, and PEMA, each forming part of a global specialty practice.

Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be tasked with establishing and executing the Specialty strategy across Europe, aligning with Global Marsh, Global Specialty, and regional priorities. You will oversee approximately 1,000 Specialty professionals across Europe, situated in over 30 countries.

What We Offer:
As a vital member of the Europe Executive Committee and the Global Specialty Executive Committee, you will report directly to the President of Marsh Specialty & Global Placement, with a matrixed reporting line to the President of Marsh Europe.

Your role will involve driving innovation, thought leadership, and the development and execution of Marsh Specialty's strategic initiatives. We seek your expertise in fostering a proactive and collaborative growth culture that spans all practices, specialties, countries, and segments within the organization.

Your Contributions Will Include:
Driving Profitable Growth

  • Collaborating with country, Segment, and Global Specialty leaders to support their growth objectives.
  • Consistently pursuing new and expanded opportunities across Specialties.
  • Enhancing operational efficiency to boost business profitability.
  • Maximizing yield opportunities across the Specialties.
  • Encouraging a culture of cross-selling and collaboration.
  • Improving overall client retention and engaging with key large accounts.
  • Supporting M&A and inorganic growth activities as needed.
Delivering Excellence
  • Analyzing Specialty from an industry and product vertical perspective to enhance client value.
  • Creating clear value propositions for each Specialty.
  • Utilizing the Global Specialty network to provide unmatched solutions to clients, regardless of location.
  • Partnering with Placement to develop a carrier engagement strategy across Specialty practices.
  • Building strong partnerships with Advisory and Claims organizations to ensure optimal client outcomes.
  • Ensuring Specialty operates in a legal and compliant manner.
Developing Talent
  • Ensuring the acquisition and development of critical skills and expertise within Specialty.
  • Creating succession plans and promoting mobility across the region.
  • Implementing our Grow Our Own strategy to foster career progression for key talent.
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues.
  • Leading the Specialties in a manner that promotes inclusion and the development of diverse teams.
  • Encouraging an engaged Specialty community across practices and countries.
Primary Focus Areas:
  • Managing revenue and resource planning, ensuring favorable budget results for Specialties in collaboration with Segments and countries.
  • Making informed capital allocation decisions to effectively target investments across practices and countries.
  • Providing strategic vision, planning, and operational leadership.
  • Directing long-term business strategies and determining the focus of the business.
  • Collaboratively developing tactics to drive business growth and enhance client relationships while striving for high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
  • Serving as a thought leader and expert while adhering to compliance and professional standards.
  • Leveraging the matrix of global, regional, and local Specialty colleagues in coordination with Segments and countries.
