Head of Environment & Sustainability (Maternity Cover)

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as Head of Environment & Sustainability on a 12-month contract (Maternity Cover). This role will play a critical part in shaping our sustainability strategy and ensuring we meet our environmental targets.

About the Role
  • Provide expert environmental advice and support to management, the HSEQ team, and project management teams across all of LSL business activities/departments.
  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies that align with business objectives and industry expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Group Head of HSEQ to establish environmental targets and objectives.
  • Support the tenders team in providing environmental, CSR, and sustainability responses to tender questions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO14001 by maintaining the integrated management system.
  • Report on environmental, CSR, and sustainability matters to UK and European regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor environmental, CSR, and sustainability performance through external audits, supplier audits, and internal audits.
  • Develop subject matter briefings and training packages.
  • Support facilities and project management in determining waste management arrangements.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and report production.
Requirements
  • Environmental sciences degree or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of construction experience, preferably in rail.
  • Practical knowledge of environmental requirements set out in legislation.
