This role presents an exceptional opportunity to engage in the dynamic realm of cancer research, specifically within our Women's Team, focusing on Breast Oncology initiatives.
You will collaborate with leading medical professionals in the forefront of innovative cancer treatment development.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Taking a proactive role in managing a portfolio of research studies within the Breast team.
- Identifying, screening, and enrolling patients for various trials and studies.
- Coordinating and guiding patients throughout their trial experience, including communication and collaboration with consultants, hospital research facilities, and external organizations regarding trial impacts and medications.
- Balancing your time between administrative duties and outpatient clinics, as well as specialized areas involved in clinical trial facilitation.
You will operate both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with ample opportunities for professional growth.
Core Duties
The Clinical Research Nurse will be an integral member of the Cambridge Cancer Trials Team, working closely with healthcare professionals associated with the multidisciplinary team.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the identification of patients eligible for clinical trials.
- Providing comprehensive information and support to patients entering clinical trials.
- Coordinating patient treatment, assessments, follow-ups, and data collection in accordance with specific clinical trial protocols.
- Maintaining close communication with relevant departments, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, pharmacy, radiology, and both outpatient and inpatient services, as well as Research & Development and Ethics departments.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Registered nurse.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Post-registration qualification in a relevant specialty (research or oncology) or a willingness to pursue one.
Desirable Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification.
- Research module completion.
Essential Experience
- Relevant clinical experience in oncology and/or research settings.
- Experience in formal and informal teaching.
- Supervision of junior staff.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in a clinical research environment, including clinical trials, participant recruitment, and interviewing.
- Experience coordinating REC and HRA submissions.
Essential Knowledge
- Understanding of the clinical research framework in the UK and related legislation and regulations.
- Familiarity with the structure, roles, and functions of RECs and R&D departments.
- Knowledge of ICH Good Clinical Practice requirements; current GCP certification is required.
Desirable Knowledge
