Kinship and Foster Care Social Worker

About the Role
North Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our growing Assessment, Kinship and Support Team. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and families within our community.
As part of a passionate team of seven, you will play a vital role in supporting kinship carers and prospective foster carers. We are committed to expanding and developing our services, and we are looking for someone who shares our enthusiasm and dedication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of kinship foster carers, including viability assessments and full assessments.
- Provide ongoing support to special guardians.
- Supervise new kinship foster carers prior to their transfer to the fostering team.
- Assess prospective foster carers through Form F assessments.
About You
You must be a qualified Social Worker with registration from Social Work England. A strong understanding of relevant childcare legislation, including Working Together to Safeguard Children, is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for building effective relationships with children, young people, and families.
Essential Requirements:
- Valid driving licence and access to reliable transportation or an alternative suitable method of travel.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).
