About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to a young man with a brain injury living with his family in the Dewsbury area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and contributing towards the planning and delivery of individual care, assisting with all aspects of daily living, and promoting the client's independence and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the client in exercising choice and control over their daily life, taking into account their cognitive abilities and needs.
  • Liaise with and support the family as required, maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Assist the client with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
  • Work collaboratively with the treating team of therapists to complete therapy programs, motivate, and engage the client in recreational and educational activities.
  • Support the client in using local amenities, such as shops and leisure facilities, and attending community events.
  • Follow the service user plan as documented for the client, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
  • Participate in moving and handling procedures as specified for the client, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • Full, clean UK driving license, with experience of driving a wheelchair-accessible vehicle preferred but not essential.
  • Experience of delivering therapy programs is desirable, but full training will be provided.
  • Dependable and professional, with a strong commitment to honesty and discretion.
  • Experience of working with young adults with physical and cognitive impairments is essential, with a positive attitude and ability to motivate and engage.
  • Previous experience working with clients with brain injury is preferred.
  • Friendly and approachable, with excellent communication skills.
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and enroll in the DBS update service.
