City of Edinburgh Council

Pupil Support Officer - Wellbeing Hub

Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 (pro rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional

At the City of Edinburgh Council, we take pride in our dedication to Health & Wellbeing. We are currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated Pupil Support Officer to become a vital part of our Integrated Pupil Support Team as we develop our new Wellbeing Hub.

The Wellbeing Hub serves as a specialized resource aimed at delivering tailored support programs for a select group of S1-3 students facing various social and emotional challenges. The primary objective of our Wellbeing Hub is to ensure that students receive focused assistance to facilitate their engagement in learning, promote their Health and Wellbeing, and support their reintegration with peers while maintaining their place in mainstream education, effectively transitioning to a senior phase curriculum.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly formed team that will play a key role in shaping this innovative initiative. The Wellbeing Hub team will include a Curriculum Leader, Pupil Support Officer, and a Pupil Support Assistant, all working collaboratively within our broader Integrated Support Team, led by our Depute Head Teacher for Pupil Support.

This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults as per the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be necessary. The provision of this check is a requirement. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the role will be contingent upon the satisfactory outcome of both pre-employment checks.

We are committed to fostering a workplace culture where all individuals feel valued, included, and empowered to perform at their best. We recognize the advantages that a diverse workforce, with varying values, beliefs, experiences, and backgrounds, brings to our organization.

To enhance our organizational culture and create an excellent working environment for the people of Edinburgh, we aim to attract the best candidates not only based on their skills and experience but also on their work approach.

To facilitate this, we are transitioning from a competency-based interview methodology to a behavioral and technical (skills for the job) assessment approach. This new interviewing technique will enable us to evaluate how candidates think and how they embody Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity, and Flexibility in their work practices.

Further information can be found on Our Behaviours web page.
