Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom City of Edinburgh Council Full time

Position Overview

Department of Education and Children's Services

Student Support Coordinator - Wellbeing Hub

Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 (pro rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional

At our institution, we take pride in our dedication to Health & Wellbeing. We are currently looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Student Support Coordinator to become a vital part of our Integrated Pupil Support Team as we launch our new Wellbeing Hub.

The Wellbeing Hub serves as a specialized resource aimed at delivering tailored support programs for a selected group of S1-3 students facing various social and emotional challenges. The primary objective of our Wellbeing Hub is to ensure that learners receive focused assistance to facilitate their engagement in educational activities, promote their Health and Wellbeing, and support their reintegration with peers while maintaining their participation in mainstream education, ensuring a smooth transition to a senior phase curriculum.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new initiative that shapes the future of student support. The Wellbeing Hub team comprises a Curriculum Leader, Student Support Coordinator, and a Student Support Assistant. This team will be integrated within our broader Support Team, overseen by our Depute Head Teacher for Pupil Support.

This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The selected candidate will be required to enroll in the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be necessary. This check must be provided by the candidate. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the role will be contingent upon the satisfactory outcome of these pre-employment checks.

We are committed to fostering a workplace culture where all individuals feel valued, included, and empowered to perform at their best. We recognize the advantages that a diverse workforce, with varying values, beliefs, experiences, and backgrounds, brings to our organization.

In our pursuit of enhancing our organizational culture and creating an exceptional work environment for the community, we aim to attract the most suitable candidates, not only based on their skills and experience but also their work approach.

To support this goal, we are transforming our interview and assessment methods by shifting from a competency-based approach to a behavioral and technical (skills for the job) focused strategy. This new interviewing format will enable us to evaluate how candidates think and how they would embody Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity, and Flexibility in their work practices.

Further information can be found on Our Behaviours web page.
