Position Overview

The successful candidate will oversee a diverse patient caseload, addressing a broad spectrum of health concerns within a primary care environment, while ensuring exemplary care standards for all patients.

Key Clinical Responsibilities:

  • As per the established practice schedule, the practitioner will be available to perform various duties, including patient consultations, handling telephonic inquiries, conducting home visits, managing repeat prescriptions, and addressing administrative tasks promptly.
  • The practitioner may conduct regular visits to care home residents registered with the practice.
  • Evening clinics will be held, focusing on the management of patients with chronic health conditions.
  • Making independent, professional decisions regarding patient issues, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
  • Evaluating the healthcare requirements of patients with undiagnosed conditions.
  • Screening patients for potential health risks and early indicators of illness.
  • Collaborating with patients to create health management plans in accordance with current clinical protocols.
  • Providing health education and counseling to patients.
  • Managing patient admissions and discharges, and referring to other healthcare providers as necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely consultation records.
  • Gathering data for quality assurance purposes.
  • Issuing both acute and repeat prescriptions electronically, adhering to clinical guidelines.
  • In general, the practitioner will fulfill all standard duties associated with a primary care physician.

Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and adhering to all relevant practice policies, including those related to prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement to ensure best practices.
  • Participating in clinical evaluations and standard-setting initiatives within the organization.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of electronic patient records.
  • Contributing to the accurate summarization and coding of patient data.
  • Attending relevant training sessions and events as required.

Confidentiality:

  • Patients trust us with sensitive health information, and it is our duty to respect their privacy and handle all information with care.
  • During the execution of the outlined responsibilities, the practitioner may access confidential patient information, which must be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Information regarding patients and practice operations should only be shared with authorized personnel, following established confidentiality protocols.

Health & Safety:

The practitioner will be responsible for implementing and leading health and safety initiatives, including:

  • Utilizing personal security measures as per practice guidelines.
  • Understanding national infection control standards and ensuring compliance.
  • Providing guidance on the safe handling and management of specimens.
  • Ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all staff.
  • Managing infection control procedures in routine and exceptional circumstances.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the workplace.
  • Identifying and mitigating health and safety risks in clinical settings.
