The Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced consultant psychiatrist to join the Psychological Medicine Team. This is an existing vacancy which is currently being covered by a locum.
The Psychological Medicine in Primary Care team is a multidisciplinary team consisting of consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, team leads, and liaison practitioners. The team provides psychiatric support to neighbourhoods across Stockport, working closely with General Practitioners, Primary Care clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to improve the care of patients with medically unexplained symptoms, long-term conditions, and complex psychological/psychiatric difficulties.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing psychiatric support to neighbourhoods across Stockport, working closely with General Practitioners and other healthcare professionals.
- Developing and implementing educational programs for healthcare staff across the borough of Stockport, focusing on improving the care of patients with medically unexplained symptoms, long-term conditions, and complex psychological/psychiatric difficulties.
- Liaising with Primary Care clinicians, managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and outcomes.
- Participating in multidisciplinary meetings and contributing to the development of care plans for patients.
- Ensuring compliance with legal obligations, proper discharge procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Contributing to the teaching of medical students and participating in academic programs.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Consultant-level experience in psychiatry.
