Position Overview

The Finance Director is a pivotal member of the Executive Team, entrusted with the comprehensive management of the organization's financial health. This role involves providing insightful financial analysis and strategic guidance, while also challenging assumptions and facilitating informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Report directly to the CEO, overseeing the entire Finance function and leading the Finance Team.
  2. Manage the preparation of annual budgets, long-term forecasts, and mid-year reforecasts, along with addressing all tax-related matters.
  3. Supervise the generation of monthly management accounts, ensuring effective monitoring of budget performance and delivering insightful variance analyses.
  4. Oversee cash management strategies and advise the Finance Committee on the optimal allocation of cash and reserves.
  5. Define and refine the organization's accounting policies and procedures, ensuring robust internal controls and compliance.
  6. Engage with Trustees, particularly the Chair of the Finance Committee, to provide necessary financial insights.
  7. Support the CEO and Trustees in strategic planning, finance, tax matters, and governance.
  8. Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure the accurate production of annual statutory accounts.
  9. Fulfill the Company Secretary role, ensuring compliance with all statutory obligations.
  10. Prepare agendas and documentation for quarterly Finance Committee meetings.
  11. Oversee relationships with Independent Financial Advisers and Investment Managers, monitoring their performance.
  12. Ensure the effective management of the payroll function, collaborating with HR for timely payroll delivery.
  13. Critically assess significant revenue generation and capital expenditure proposals, supporting colleagues in presenting business cases.
  14. Manage financial risk effectively across all areas.
