At Teaching Personnel, we prioritize creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for all learners, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We are in search of a dedicated and skilled Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to become an integral part of our leadership team and enhance our SEND services.

As the SENCO, your primary role will be to oversee and manage the educational support for students with special educational needs and disabilities. You will collaborate with educators, students, families, and external organizations to ensure that every student with SEND receives the necessary assistance to reach their maximum potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the SEND services throughout the institution.
  • Formulate and execute the school's SEND policy while ensuring adherence to legal standards.
  • Recognize students with SEND and coordinate suitable interventions and support mechanisms.
  • Supervise the development and execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Work in partnership with teachers to guarantee they have the necessary resources and support to cater to the needs of students with SEND.
  • Assess and track the progress of students with SEND, utilizing data to inform practices and foster improvement.
  • Engage with parents, guardians, and external agencies to promote a unified approach to supporting students with SEND.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff regarding SEND matters and inclusive teaching methodologies.
  • Oversee the activities of teaching assistants and other support personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations concerning SEND.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) along with a relevant SENCO qualification (e.g., NASENCO award).
  • Extensive experience working with students with SEND in a secondary educational environment.
  • In-depth understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to lead and motivate both staff and students.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEND.
