Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and disabilities, ensuring the Local Authority and its partners meet their statutory duties.
  • Create and amend Education, Health and Care (EHC) and SEND plans to meet the needs of pupils.
  • Distribute additional resources to schools within the borough to ensure pupils' needs are met.
  • Signpost schools to sources of appropriate support and provide advice and guidance to SENCOs, head teachers, and other professionals within education.
  • Act as the first point of contact for schools and the general public regarding SEND-related enquiries.
  • Chair and attend EHC/SEND plan meetings, ensuring accurate records are kept and systems are updated regularly.

Requirements:

  • Ability to produce high-quality EHC plans.
  • Experience of the referral process and assessment of education, health, and care needs.
  • Skills, knowledge, and experience of working within the SEND system.
  • A good understanding of community assets and resources, with the ability to convene the right support for young people.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Child and Adult DBS registered to the update service.
