Chief Operating Officer - Ground Handling Job Description

At Swissport, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Chief Operating Officer - Ground Handling to lead our UK & Ireland Region. As a global leader in aviation services, we provide ground handling, cargo handling, and passenger services to over 300 million passengers annually.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and directing all aspects of the Ground Handling Operation to ensure safety, compliance, financial control, performance, and efficiency in accordance with corporate objectives, strategy, and plans.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to the executive team in creating, growing, and building a world-class, industry-leading business.
  2. Oversee quality and safety procedures to ensure alignment with Swissport's International safety and quality standards.
  3. Drive business results from an operational and financial perspective, working closely with the UKI CEO, UKI CFO, and other key executive team members.
  4. Meet and exceed budget targets, achieving favorable financial results with respect to top-line growth, profitability, cash flow, mergers and acquisitions, systems, reporting, and controls.
  5. Collaborate with the HRD to develop a management development program that takes the management team from operators to business leaders who understand their business and station KPIs.
  6. Forge strategic partnerships and relationships with customers and service providers to enhance our service proposition and financial performance.
  7. Lead relationships with Airport Authorities, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  8. Work with the senior management team to create, implement, and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems, and company policies to foster growth, profitability, and efficiencies.
  9. Foster a growth-oriented, positive, and encouraging environment, keeping colleagues and management accountable to company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  10. Ensure full implementation of the Station Manager Manual (SMM) and tracking of scores on a weekly basis, aiming for a minimum target of gold for all stations.
Business Development
  1. Develop a growth strategy focused on financial gain and customer satisfaction.
  2. Ensure strong cadence and governance with all customers.
