Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of High School Navigator. This is a restricted, full-time 12-month classified staff position that will play a critical role in promoting college and career readiness among high school students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arrange campus visits to the College to promote college and career readiness among high school students.
  • Promote the College's programs and career pathways to high school students and their families.
  • Inform high school students about careers in the region and provide access to academic advising, financial aid, scholarship information, and wrap-around services.
  • Work with high school students to identify their career goals and develop a plan to achieve them.
  • Collaborate with high school counselors and teachers to provide support and resources to students.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local employers and industry partners to provide students with opportunities for internships, job shadowing, and career exploration.
  • Provide support and resources to students as they transition from high school to college or the workforce.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in education or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and build relationships with community partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience working with high school students and their families.
  • Knowledge of college and career readiness programs and services.
  • Experience with academic advising and career counseling.
