Sewage Treatment Technician

Inverness, Highland, United Kingdom Scottish Water Full time

Join Us in Ensuring Clean Water for Scotland.

At Scottish Water, we are dedicated to the vital task of maintaining the purity of Scotland's water supply. While many may overlook the journey of water from source to tap, we are committed to excellence in this essential service.

Your Role

As a Wastewater Operations Specialist, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team focused on safeguarding the quality of Scotland's water. Your responsibilities will encompass compliance with regulatory standards and the pursuit of innovative practices that benefit the environment.

On a daily basis, you will oversee and enhance wastewater treatment processes, including sedimentation and filtration. You will diligently monitor key performance indicators, compile reports, and analyze samples and test results to identify opportunities for process improvements. Regular maintenance oversight will also be part of your duties to ensure the seamless operation of our facilities.

Your Qualifications

We will provide comprehensive training on the technical aspects of the role. However, you should possess strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Familiarity with modern computer systems is essential, as we embrace technological advancements. A keen attention to detail is crucial; you will ensure that all recordings are accurate and that health and safety standards are upheld. You should also have a knack for identifying trends and solving problems. Participation in the standby rota for out-of-hours responsibilities will be expected.

A valid driving license is required, and while we provide a vehicle, candidates should be prepared for the realities of working in a wastewater treatment environment.

Our Commitment to You

We recognize the importance of work-life balance and offer a supportive environment. You will enjoy 38 days of annual leave, including public holidays, with the option to purchase additional days. We also encourage community involvement through paid volunteer time.

Our family-friendly policies support major life events, and we promote flexible working arrangements. For your future, we offer a pension plan and life assurance, along with an annual company bonus and access to employee rewards that can help you save on various expenses.

Important Information

This position is classified as Grade 4, with a starting salary and performance-based progression opportunities. We value diverse applicants and encourage those who may not meet every criterion to apply, as we believe in fostering a learning environment.

We are committed to inclusivity and are open to making adjustments in our recruitment process to support all candidates. Additionally, to contribute to the development of Scotland, all employees must be Scottish taxpayers.

We look forward to welcoming dedicated individuals who share our vision for a sustainable future.
