Position Overview

The University of York is looking for a skilled Senior Project Coordinator to join our BioArCh facility team. This role is pivotal in the development of a national service dedicated to biomolecular archaeology (BIOARC-HS). The primary focus will be on managing the initial phase of the project, which includes enhancing our facilities and streamlining workflows to cater to the needs of the UK heritage science sector. The goal is to convert advanced research in biomolecular archaeology into a user-friendly service for museums, fieldwork units, and other heritage professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of the project, ensuring alignment with academic, technical, and administrative objectives.
  • Collaborate with project partners to ascertain their needs and expectations.
  • Play an active role in the enhancement of our existing infrastructure, including the procurement of new equipment and the development of additional laboratory spaces.
  • Improve our sample and data management systems by implementing a new laboratory management platform.
  • Work closely with the Director of BioArCh and support the Technical Team Manager in ensuring the successful delivery of the project.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing and delivering infrastructure-focused projects.
  • Familiarity with sample tracking and data management systems.
  • Understanding of relevant fields such as archaeological sciences, environmental sciences, molecular biology, or analytical chemistry.
  • A Level 6 qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proficient in gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting complex data and information.
  • Commitment to promoting respect, inclusivity, equality, and diversity within the workplace.
