Job Title: Van Tipper Mechanic

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Van Tipper Mechanic to join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED. As a Van Tipper Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and servicing a wide range of vehicles, including refuse collection vehicles, sweepers, tippers, mowing equipment, small tractors, chainsaws, hedge cutters, strimmers, blowers, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Carry out MOT tests and retests on class 4, 5, and 7 vehicles
  • Perform taxi tests to the standards set by Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils
  • Navigate around Bromsgrove and Redditch districts to attend breakdowns and undertake necessary repairs or facilitate vehicle recovery
  • Work a split shift arrangement if required to meet service needs
  • Be prepared to work from either of our two workshops
  • Cover periods of leave and sickness within the workshop
  • Work bank holidays when front-line operational staff are working
  • Be available to provide cover during periods of emergency works, winter maintenance, and special events
  • Work flexibly to cover service needs, working 37 hours per week, between 6:30am – 6pm Mon – Fri
  • Train staff to carry out minor repairs and basic maintenance of plant and machinery
  • Monitor that work is carried out to necessary standards
  • Investigate and deal with customer enquiries
  • Act on own initiative with regard to workload and work prioritisation
  • Liaise with contractors when required
  • Drive vehicles up to 26 tonnes (LGV)

  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances
