Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Van Technician to join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED. As a Van Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and servicing a wide range of vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair vehicles and equipment, including refuse collection vehicles, sweepers, tippers, and agricultural equipment.
  • Perform MOT tests and retests on class 4, 5, and 7 vehicles.
  • Conduct taxi tests to meet the standards set by local councils.
  • Navigate the district and attend breakdowns, undertaking necessary repairs or facilitating vehicle recovery.
  • Work a split shift arrangement to meet service needs.
  • Work from either of our two workshops to meet service needs.
  • Cover periods of leave and sickness within the workshop, as well as work bank holidays.
  • Be available to provide cover during emergency works, winter maintenance, and special events.
  • Work flexibly to cover service needs, working 37 hours per week between 6:30am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Train staff to carry out minor repairs and basic maintenance of plant and machinery.
  • Investigate and deal with customer enquiries.
  • Act on own initiative with regard to workload and work prioritization.
  • Liaise with contractors when required.
  • Drive vehicles up to 26 tonnes (LGV).

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ability to work flexibly and cover service needs.
  • Ability to train staff and monitor work standards.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
