About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior/Supervising Social Worker to join our Fostering Team at Polaris Community. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting foster carers and their families to achieve outstanding outcomes for children and young people in foster care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and Supervise Foster Carers: Provide regular supervision to allocated foster carers, ensuring they provide a safe, healthy, nurturing, and learning environment for children and young people.
  • Monitor Foster Carer Suitability: Ensure foster carers fully understand the fostering task, competencies to be achieved, and the standards expected, including complaints and representation procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Team: Work in partnership with the team to identify needs within the foster family, including respite, activities, therapy, and holidays, and contribute to relevant meetings and tasks.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure each child and foster carer are fully compliant with all key documentation.
  • Represent the Agency: Attend meetings and provide reports for Commissioning Teams to address individual packages of care.
  • Promote Participation: Promote participation of children and young people in the development of the agency and in accessing resources and opportunities in their local community.
  • Support the Referrals Team: Participate in the day 'duty system' on a rota basis, supporting the referrals team.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A Social Work qualification and valid Social Work Registration or equivalent.
  • Experience: Proven ability to produce a high standard of report writing and a comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures.
  • Travel and Transportation: The willingness and ability to travel extensively, including occasional nights away, and confidence with transporting children and young people in sometimes stressful/difficult situations.
  • Driving License: Full driving license.
