Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Diabetes Consultant to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders, working closely with our multi-disciplinary team to deliver excellent patient outcomes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide senior decision-making and leadership to ensure optimal and early review of patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders.
  • Work collaboratively with other consultants, junior doctors, and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and implement care plans for patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders, ensuring effective management and treatment.
  • Conduct clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Participate in teaching and training of junior staff, promoting excellence in patient care and medical education.
  • Contribute to the development of business plans and service strategies, ensuring alignment with Trust objectives.
Requirements
  • Registerable medical qualification and MRCP or equivalent.
  • Wide experience in General Internal Medicine, culminating in award of Certificate of Completion of Training by GMC or award of Certificate of Eligibility for Specialty Registration (CESR) by GMC.
  • Completion of a Specialist training programme in Diabetes & Endocrinology.
  • Advanced experience in insulin pump management, sub-specialty areas of diabetes or endocrinology, and accreditation as DAFNE doctor or equivalent experience of structured patient education.
  • Experience in day-to-day organisation of general internal medicine and endocrine and diabetes services in a busy hospital.
  • Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.
Working Arrangements

The post will be based at Princess Royal University Hospital, with a proposed 10 PA Job Plan. The on-call commitment is overall a 1:18 rota (1:28 weekends, 1:16 weekdays), which is classed as Category B (1% supplement). There is a commitment to undertake routine job planned work on Saturdays or Sundays as part of the total job planned PAs.
