The Clinical NGS Application Specialist II will be responsible for delivering comprehensive pre- and post-sales technical assistance for our sequencing product line, with a focus on Ion Torrent Next Generation Sequencing systems and Oncomine and AmpliSeq applications, including software and analytical processes.
Position Overview:
This role is hybrid, requiring a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Address technical inquiries related to NGS products and workflows through various communication channels.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges by leveraging available resources and collaborating with internal experts to resolve issues effectively.
- Partner with Clinical Application Scientists and Field Application Scientists to ensure optimal support for Ion and Oncomine Assays, contributing technical knowledge and clinical insights to customer projects.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions in our Customer Relationship Management system and support ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Analyze market and technological trends to develop technical tips, FAQs, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Suggest enhancements to our knowledge databases and other technical resources managed by the company.
- Share technical updates with team members and actively participate in departmental meetings.
- Engage in regular training on products and ongoing education regarding new applications and technologies.
- Undertake additional related tasks as opportunities arise.
- Minimal travel may be required for this position.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics) is essential; a Master's degree or PhD/post-doctoral experience in a related field is preferred.
Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience.
- Proficient hands-on experience with sequencing methodologies, particularly in oncology.
- Experience in a clinical laboratory or clinical research setting, with familiarity in NGS technologies and genomic data interpretation, is highly advantageous.
- Previous roles in customer service or client-facing positions are beneficial.
- Proficiency in English and Italian (both spoken and written); additional European languages are a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of NGS instruments, software, kits, and services, with a strong proficiency in Ion Torrent and Oncomine Assays.
- Solid understanding of clinical oncology principles, practices, and terminology.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and data analysis pipelines commonly used in NGS workflows is preferred.
- Willingness to adapt to evolving technologies and stay informed about the latest advancements in NGS and clinical oncology.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards governing the clinical diagnostic sector, with a commitment to staying updated on legal obligations and requirements.
- Ability to quickly assimilate complex technical information.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with customers and colleagues.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks while ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Problem-solving skills and a natural curiosity.
- Proficiency in digital tools, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and internet applications.
