We are partnering with a local authority in a collaborative effort to fill a Rehabilitation Officer Visual Impairment position on a 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension at the client's discretion. To be considered, please submit your CV for immediate review.
Compensation: Daily Rate
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the rehabilitation and mobility needs of visually impaired individuals, with the goal of enhancing their independence, confidence, and abilities.
- Through risk assessment and provision of resources and equipment, reduce the risk of accidents, such as walking into roads or burns from cooking.
- Assess the needs of individuals newly registered as blind or partially sighted for services provided by the team or for referral to other agencies, liaising with carers and others as necessary.
- Provide or assist with rehabilitation and mobility training for visually impaired individuals on an individual or group basis.
- Train service users in independent living skills, including daily living, mobility, orientation, personal hygiene, use of special equipment, communication aids, and other essential skills to maintain their independence.
Qualifications:
- A foundation degree-level qualification in Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment) or an equivalent qualification.
- Considerable experience working within a social care setting, particularly with individuals with disabilities or older adults.
- Knowledge of the causes and effects of common disabling medical conditions.
Please note:
- You must be available to work immediately or at short notice.
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
- This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
