Senior Environmental Engineer in Global Oil and Gas

About the Company
This organization is involved in the exploration, production, transportation, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas. It operates through various segments: Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate. The Upstream segment encompasses the exploration and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The Downstream segment is focused on refining, logistics, power generation, and the marketing of crude oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products along with related services to both international and domestic clients. The Corporate segment provides essential support services, including human resources, finance, and information technology.
Position Overview
This global manufacturing organization is in search of a seasoned Environmental Engineer to join the Decarbonization and Sustainability Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for environmental protection and performance initiatives. A minimum of 12 years of experience in the Oil and Gas sector, particularly in refining, chemical, and/or NGL fractionation processes, is required. Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and substantial experience with environmental regulations and standards is essential. The candidate should also have experience in overall refinery environmental performance calculation, daily monitoring, and reporting, as well as identifying deviations and developing solutions to environmental challenges. Responsibilities include conducting waste minimization assessments and advising on the handling, treatment, and disposal of solid, liquid, hazardous, and toxic wastes. Knowledge and experience in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) management, strong data collection, and analytical skills to identify GHG reduction opportunities are preferred. Strong management and coordination skills are necessary to lead and collaborate with environmental teams in operational facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee facility operations and business plans to ensure compliance with environmental protection policies and applicable regulations.
- Identify and address deviations to mitigate environmental risks and enhance compliance with company and governmental standards.
- Conduct thorough environmental assessments and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Develop, review, and implement GHG management programs, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Perform internal GHG assurance audits and support third-party audits.
- Monitor waste disposal practices to ensure environmental safety and compliance.
- Assess air quality, wastewater management, and overall waste management performance.
- Establish environmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with corporate environmental strategies.
- Develop and maintain environmental management systems in accordance with ISO 14001 standards.
- Lead internal benchmarking studies on environmental performance among oil and gas refineries.
- Support the development of emissions monitoring and reduction strategies.
- Stay informed on international and regional regulations regarding emissions, waste management, and GHG compliance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including engineers and regulatory bodies, to align with industry standards.
- Analyze complex datasets related to emissions and equipment efficiency to derive insights for improvement.
- Manage the lifecycle of environmental programs from conception to execution, ensuring continuous enhancement.
- Facilitate technical workshops among oil and gas refineries.
- Develop training materials to foster environmental awareness among personnel.
Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in oil and gas refineries or the petrochemical industry.
- Comprehensive understanding of the oil and gas refining industry and its environmental challenges.
- Familiarity with global and governmental environmental policies and standards.
- EPI/QEP certification is preferred.
- Expertise in sustainability data calculation methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in environmental engineering.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System requirements.
- Experience in developing decarbonization strategies and GHG emission baselines.
- Proficient in computer skills and presentation capabilities.
- Strong management and coordination skills.
- Proficient in English, both verbal and written.
- Able to work effectively under pressure.
