The Upstream segment is responsible for the exploration and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids, while the Downstream segment focuses on refining, logistics, power generation, and the marketing of petroleum products to both local and international clients. The Corporate segment provides essential support services such as human resources, finance, and IT.
Position Summary
The Senior Strategy and Planning Engineer will be an integral part of the Investment & Portfolio Analysis Division within the Downstream Strategy and Capital Planning Department. This department is tasked with overseeing the Downstream Investment Strategy and Plan, providing analytical support to the Downstream Executive Committees in collaboration with other divisions.
The primary role of the Senior Strategy and Planning Engineer is to perform quantitative assessments and ensure the alignment of the Downstream Investment Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive technoeconomic evaluations on various Downstream initiatives, particularly focusing on integrated refining and petrochemical assets and their alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
- Develop quantitative assessments regarding sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) implications for the Downstream Investment Strategy, with a particular emphasis on emissions and carbon footprint analysis.
- Collaborate with Downstream business units and corporate functions to establish and refine investment analysis criteria.
- Provide commercial and technical insights to implement the downstream strategy, identifying strategic alternatives, trade-offs, and formulating execution plans.
Qualifications:
- This position requires the candidate to relocate to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field is preferred; an MBA or relevant advanced degree is highly advantageous.
- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in operations, technology, and business development, with a focus on economic and commercial evaluations for downstream opportunities, especially in refining and petrochemicals.
- Proficiency in asset technoeconomic modeling tools and familiarity with data from industry consulting firms.
- Knowledge of refining and chemical process technologies, along with an understanding of advancements in sustainability.
- Awareness of global energy markets and trends, coupled with a robust professional network is preferred.
- International work experience is considered beneficial.
