SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

LOCATION: SOUTHAMPTON / HYBRID

In light of our ongoing success and the acquisition of new projects, we are looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to enhance our dynamic design team at our headquarters in Southampton.

Our team is a collaborative and professional multi-disciplinary group, tasked with overseeing the design management of various projects. This position reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager, and the successful candidate will be accountable for all facets of electrical design.

Key Responsibilities:

· Oversee project-specific design deliverables

· Execute designs in alignment with M&E Design Quality Assurance Procedures

· Ensure detailed designs comply with Trant's established procedures

· Analyze and comprehend client requirements from documentation (drawings, specifications, correspondence, etc.)

· Liaise with clients, external design teams, and subcontractors to ensure adherence to specifications

· Conduct site surveys of existing assets

· Perform optioneering and feasibility assessments

· Support tender pricing activities

· Develop procurement specifications for electrical equipment and create detailed design construction drawings

· Manage third-party designs and provide design support to installation and commissioning teams

· Review vendor control system Functional Design Specifications for compliance

· Evaluate vendor data and drawings for all electrical equipment, including package plants, motor control centers, power distribution panels, and field equipment panels

· Manage project-specific design costs in collaboration with the Project Manager

· Conduct and verify design calculations, including modeling of the complete power system (AMTECH)

· Prepare drawings for CAD production

· Collaborate with the Process Engineer and suppliers to develop process control philosophies

· Create electrical scope and works enquiry submission documents

· Estimate material and labor costs

· Perform design risk assessments to support detailed design proposals

· Prepare comprehensive electrical specifications

· Generate single line and block cable diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, cable schedules, equipment schedules, telemetry schedules, instrument schedules, and I/O listings

· Document all design changes throughout the project lifecycle and issue 'As Built' documents

· Maintain communication with clients and subcontractors

Qualifications/Background:

· Relevant electrical qualification or equivalent experience

· Chartered Engineer status is a plus
