Position Overview

Reporting to: Camp Manager

Contract Type: Seasonal employment during school breaks.

Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM on weekdays. Opportunities for full season or part season roles, with additional hours available for those with a pediatric first aid certification (typically 8 AM - 6 PM).

Role Summary

The Activity Instructor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children attending the camp while delivering engaging and structured activities.

Utilizing various resources, you will lead a diverse range of organized sports, arts and crafts, and games for children aged 6 to 14 years, emphasizing participation, care, and development.

In addition to leading activities, staff members contribute to the high standards of physical, emotional, and social care provided by Ultimate Activity Camps. As an Activity Instructor, you will take on a pastoral role, focusing on the welfare of your group and providing exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement activities for children aged 6-14, prioritizing engagement, development, and enjoyment, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Assume a pastoral role as a group leader, welcoming new participants and communicating with the Camp Manager and/or parents as needed.
  • Oversee and interact with children outside of scheduled activities.
  • Consistently promote the welfare of all children in your care.
  • Exhibit high levels of energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism, serving as a positive role model for the children.
  • Ensure compliance with all camp policies and procedures, including health and safety and safeguarding protocols.
  • Embody the Ultimate Activity Camp promise of 'Inspiring Children Every Day' and maintain behavior that aligns with company expectations throughout your tenure.
  • Perform additional tasks as required (e.g., cleaning, equipment maintenance).

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and facilitating activities.
  • Able to adapt session delivery and structure based on age and ability.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated to fostering children's development through play and activities.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; candidates must be confident in leading a group of children and embracing responsibility.
  • A flexible team player, capable of adjusting to dynamic situations and challenges.
  • Seeking a challenging yet rewarding role during school holidays, with aspirations to advance in the childcare and coaching sector.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualified in or pursuing a relevant qualification in sports, arts, performing arts, education, or childcare.
  • Experience managing a group of children independently.
  • Possess a Pediatric First Aid (12-hour or 6-hour) or First Aid at Work certification.
