About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Health Nurse to join our team at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing expert nursing advice and support to patients with general skin conditions.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in dermatology and phototherapy, with experience in assessment and monitoring of patients following specific treatment. You will be responsible for coordinating a team, working effectively under pressure, and maintaining a high level of clinical competence in your area of specialty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert nursing advice and support to patients with general skin conditions
  • Assist with and provide nurse-led clinics for general dermatology patients
  • Promote dermatology patient surveys and utilize feedback to improve patient experience
  • Provide and maintain a telephone helpline
  • Provide psychological support for patients, relatives, and carers
  • Deal effectively and sensitively with patient issues, collaborating with PALS/complaints service as appropriate
  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of dermatology minor surgery
  • Undertake individual performance reviews for development of staff
  • Ensure adherence to the Trust Medicines Policy and the NMC Standards for the Administration of Medicines
  • Maintain and promote patient confidentiality in line with trust policy and procedures

Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN/RILU) with a strong background in dermatology and phototherapy
  • Diploma/degree in nursing
  • Experience working within dermatology and phototherapy
  • Experience in assessment and monitoring of patients following specific treatment
  • Experience in managing patients within a clinical setting
  • Phototherapy training completed
  • Experience of coordinating a team
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and the relevance to practice and knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Hold a non-medical qualification or be working towards this
  • Knowledge of leadership/management
  • Research and development experience
  • Experience in patient education and health promotion
  • Advanced communication skills training
  • Evidence of clinical competence in area of specialty
