Job Description

Role Overview

John McCall Architects is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Architect or Architectural Technologist to join our studio team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the outcomes required for all RIBA workstages, working on your own projects, and reporting directly to the practice directors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage production of packages across all RIBA workstages
  • Client-facing experience and presentation skills
  • Coordinate consultant and sub-consultant/contractor information within design
  • Manage planning requirements and building control coordination
  • Attend site/contractor meetings
  • Work to lead projects through to delivery as lead designer within the practice and assist other members of the internal team
  • Mentor junior staff and provide guidance in their professional development

Architectural Technologist Role

John McCall Architects is looking for someone to join our team primarily to deliver the technical packages associated with our workload. Your main role will be to develop designs from stages 2/3 onwards through to completion and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop designs from stages 2/3 onwards through to completion and handover
  • Manage projects both individually and as part of a team as required by project scope/resourcing
  • There is an opportunity to develop individual skills and take ownership of projects through development and delivery as well as engaging in initial elements of design and concept stage
  • Coordinate consultant and sub-consultant/contractor information within design
  • Manage post-stage 3 planning requirements and building control coordination
  • Attend site/contractor meetings
  • Assist project lead through delivery stages and manage delivery of work packages for the wider project team
  • Assist and advise the wider internal team with technical advice

Requirements

  • Min 3 years of experience post-qualification in practice (Architectural Technologist Role: 2-3 years of experience in practice)
  • Work on multiple projects within the practice, both as job runner or as part of a team

What We Offer

Our primary software packages are Microstation and Archicad for which we will provide training if required. We encourage internal evaluations within the practice and are looking for a candidate who can bring quality design skills alongside delivery experience.
