Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Operations Engineer to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our Data Center Operations team, you will be responsible for deploying and maintaining the servers and infrastructure in our data centers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. System Reliability and Troubleshooting: Maintain a high level of system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets related to Systems and Network hardware problems.
  2. Linux Server and Virtualization: Troubleshoot Linux server and XEN service virtualization issues.
  3. Physical Layer Outages: Remediate physical layer outages on both Systems & Network.
  4. Data Center Operations: Participate in Data Center power & cooling events, including 24x7 On-Call requirements and shift rotations.
  5. Rack Installation and Configuration: Install and configure racks in-line with internal SLAs.
  6. Trouble Ticket Resolution: Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices.
  7. Device Replacement: Physically replace server and network devices.
  8. Customer Uptime Metrics: Define metrics to increase our customer uptime.
  9. Security Best Practices: Enforce Amazon's Security Best Practices.
  10. Vendor and Contractor Management: Interact with third-party vendors and contractors.
  11. Operational Efficiency: Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency.
  12. Project Participation: Participate in and deliver on a number of local/regional/global projects.
  13. Team Collaboration: Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates.
  14. Cloud Infrastructure Development: Contribute to building the world's largest Cloud infrastructure.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with 3+ years of IT infrastructure experience, a basic understanding of data center facilities, and a solid understanding of Linux/Unix Administration and server Hardware Troubleshooting and hands-on experience.
