Community Engagement Arts Coordinator
Position Overview
Historic Royal Palaces is embarking on an innovative arts initiative at the Tower of London, focusing on community involvement and cultural enrichment. We are seeking a skilled producer to foster engagement with local communities as part of this dynamic 3-year endeavor, building on the success of our existing community outreach programs.
This initiative represents a collaboration between our Community Partnerships team and R&D Studio producers, working alongside a group of lead artists to curate expansive live programs centered around the Tower of London. Drawing inspiration from the 600-year legacy of animals at the Tower, which once housed a royal menagerie, we will delve into the theme of 'animals' and its diverse cultural implications through various artistic mediums, including puppetry, movement, music, and extensive community participation. The project is committed to social value and responsive to the needs of our local communities.
Tower Hamlets, our local area, is one of the most vibrant and multicultural boroughs in London and the UK. Historically a place of arrival, it continues to experience rapid population growth and significant social contrasts. This project aims to leverage arts and creativity as a means of community building and skill sharing, culminating in high-quality, large-scale artistic outputs in the coming years.
As the Community Engagement Arts Coordinator, you will collaborate with world-class artists and local residents to explore the 'animals' theme and develop a comprehensive engagement program that lies at the core of this initiative.
Benefits Include:
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements
- Enhanced holiday entitlement
- Generous employer pension contributions (up to 11%)
- Annual pay reviews and bonuses
- Critical illness cover and life assurance
- Family-friendly policies and benefits
- Staff discounts and membership to all palaces
About You
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about engaging with East London communities, learning from their experiences, and fostering a sense of belonging and ownership of the Tower as a local and national treasure. This project aims to establish long-term partnerships that create a lasting legacy of change, increasing local visitation and enhancing the visitor experience to better resonate with residents. This initiative is a key driver of our charity's inclusivity objectives.
We are dedicated to enhancing the diversity and socio-economic inclusivity of our team and encourage applications from a broad spectrum of candidates. This role requires a diverse skill set, and we are prepared to support career development and provide mentoring for successful applicants who demonstrate relevant experience but may require additional support in specific areas. Familiarity with Tower Hamlets is preferred.
Work Environment
We have adopted a hybrid model that allows for both remote and on-site work, and we are open to discussing arrangements that best suit individual work-life balance while fulfilling business requirements.
