About the Role
The Practice Development Nurse will work in partnership with the Matrons, Head of Nursing, Clinical Director and General Managers, in the development of this service. This is a key role within the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, requiring a skilled and experienced nurse to lead the development of cancer care services.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the development of cancer care services, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives, ensuring that services are delivered to the highest standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify areas for service development and implement changes to improve patient care.
- Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, promoting excellence in practice and supporting professional development.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures, ensuring that they are evidence-based and aligned with trust objectives.

The Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital trust in the south-east of England, providing a full range of general hospital services and specialist care to a population of around 600,000 people. We have a team of over 8,000 full and part-time staff, and are committed to delivering high-quality patient care and services.
Person Specification
- Registered Nurse with a degree in Cancer Nursing or related subject.
- SACT qualification and competence.
- 5 years of experience in senior nursing post within cancer care as Band 6 or above, or equivalent.
- Proven track record of leading and developing staff, teaching nursing staff, and service development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to think creatively and with innovation.
