Role Overview:

Our client, a reputable local housing association, is seeking a dedicated Housing and Community Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. This position is fully office-based in Liverpool and presents a remarkable opportunity to positively impact the lives of residents and the wider community.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering essential services that assist tenants in maintaining their tenancies and improving their living conditions.


Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide thorough guidance to tenants regarding tenancy issues, welfare benefits, and housing requests.
  • Support tenants with specific needs to ensure they fully benefit from their housing arrangements.
  • Assist the Property Services Manager in meeting turnaround targets for vacant properties and oversee the lettings process.
  • Evaluate housing applications and manage allocations in accordance with our Lettings Policy.
  • Ensure the efficient processing of tenancy terminations and new lettings, including handling notices and executing new tenancy agreements.
  • Monitor and enforce tenancy conditions, collaborating with the Housing Management team to address disputes and manage violations.
  • Work with the central finance team to oversee rent and service charge payments, taking proactive steps to reduce arrears.
  • Facilitate legal action when necessary, particularly in cases of rent arrears or other tenancy violations.
  • Conduct property inspections and tenancy audits, coordinating with colleagues to enhance the quality of our housing environments.
  • Encourage tenant and resident participation in service delivery and decision-making processes.
  • Address complaints in line with our established policies and procedures.
  • Represent the interests of the Association in both internal and external meetings.

Key Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a solid understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing social housing and property management, along with experience in delivering compliant services.

Experience in supported housing is advantageous but not mandatory.

Experience in General Needs housing or tenancy management is essential, coupled with a genuine desire to assist individuals in maintaining their independence.

Understanding the challenges faced by tenants or household members with learning disabilities, mental health issues, or physical and sensory impairments is important.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Experience in one-on-one customer interactions is beneficial.

Proficiency in numeracy and literacy skills relevant to the role is necessary.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and a Housing Management system is expected.
