Job Description

Job Title: Science Laboratory Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Science Laboratory Technician to join our team at Bridge Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to our science teachers and ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and stock, including chemicals, to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure the correct disposal of chemical and biological waste, and maintain accurate records of stock and waste management.
  • Assist teaching staff in the planning and delivery of practical science lessons, and provide technical support as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock and equipment, and ensure that the laboratory is kept tidy and organized.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest health and safety regulations, including COSHH requirements, and ensure that all staff are aware of their responsibilities in this area.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of science and a genuine interest in the subject.
  • Qualification linked to science or experience of working in a laboratory environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and train on the job.
