Children's Home Deputy Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at a Children's Home in Milton Keynes. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the management team in implementing the care plans for young people, ensuring their emotional and mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the management team in managing the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring compliance with the Care Standards Act.
  • Provide support to young people with life skills and education, promoting their independence and self-esteem.
  • Take the lead in setting standards and evaluating achievements, ensuring the home meets the highest standards of care.
  • Protect young people from risks to their health, welfare, and development, both within and outside the home.
  • Provide effective leadership and team development, ensuring staff are equipped to provide high-quality care.
  • Liaise with external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for young people.
  • Oversee staff training and qualifications, ensuring the team has the necessary skills to provide excellent care.
  • Manage the home's expenditure and petty cash, ensuring financial transparency and accountability.
  • Ensure a safe environment, conducting regular property checks to meet health and safety guidelines.
  • Be aware of safeguarding at all times, taking proactive steps to prevent harm.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, providing 24/7 support to the team and young people.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Level 3 in Children and Young People.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in a children's residential home sector.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a children's home senior role.
  • Experience working with complex and emotional behavioral needs in young people.
  • Understanding of the current Ofsted inspection framework.
  • Knowledge of current governing legislation and procedures for caring for children.
  • Ability to manage time and resources effectively.
Salary and Benefits:

£28,000 per annum, plus sleep-in payments.
