Clinical Support Worker Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Support Worker to join our Pre-Operative Assessment Unit at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with Pre-Operative Assessment Nurses to provide high-quality patient care and support.
  • Assist with basic patient care, including documentation and reporting.
  • Perform clinical skills such as phlebotomy and ECGs.
Main Duties

As a Clinical Support Worker, you will work effectively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient outcomes.

Assist RNs in delivering care to designated patient groups, prioritizing tasks and demonstrating a commitment to patient well-being.

Implement direct clinical care, ensuring patient dignity and individual needs are met.

Recognize changes in patient condition and report to RNs, maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Support RNs in providing information and advice on health promotion, promoting patient education and empowerment.

Ensure high standards of cleanliness and adhere to infection control policies.

Undertake training and practice of agreed clinical competencies in basic nursing skills.

Stay up-to-date with changes in clinical practice and their impact on your role.

Work as an effective team member, supporting continued team development and collaboration.

Person Specification
  • Good general education, including literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Evidence of venepuncture skills and experience of manual handling of patients.
  • Previous experience in a care environment and ECDL or equivalent.
  • Experience of recording ECGs and previous experience in OPD.
Education & Qualifications
  • Completion of the NHS Care Certificate or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3.
  • Or willingness to complete the care certificate within the first 3 months of employment.
