About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Clinical Support Worker to join our team at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. As a Clinical Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing nursing care and assistance to patients within our redesigned Priority Assessment Unit and Discharge Area.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing nursing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse.
  • Link in with wards to ensure an early move to the discharge lounge, including liaising with discharge teams.
  • Have the ability to work flexibly and have the confidence to go into all areas to facilitate the moving of patients suitable for the discharge lounge.
  • Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.
  • Ensure patients are cared for with compassion and ensure patients' dignity is maintained at all times.
  • Be able to work as an effective team member and demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Be able to deliver high-quality patient-focused care and be motivated and dedicated to improving your own clinical practice.
Requirements
  • Good general education.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 in a care-related area.
Desirable
  • Willingness to undertake NVQ level 3 in a care-related area.
  • Care certificate.
Skills and Abilities
  • Good basic hygiene skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative or with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced clinical skills, ie. venepuncture.
