Hull, Kingston upon Hull, United Kingdom NHS Full time
Senior Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist - CAMHS Inpatient Unit

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Senior Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist position within the renowned Inspire CAMHS inpatient facility. Opened in 2019, this state-of-the-art unit was named 'Inspire' through a public competition facilitated by the Trust charity, Health Stars, and selected by a panel of young individuals.

The unit is fully equipped and staffed to address a diverse array of mental health challenges faced by young individuals, including depression, severe anxiety, psychosis, and eating disorders.

As the Senior Psychiatrist, you will primarily offer leadership and advanced medical expertise to the unit.

In this role, you will collaborate with a skilled and established clinical multidisciplinary team (MDT) within our mental health inpatient facility for youth. This is a remarkable opportunity that requires flexibility, vision, and strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients and their families, while fostering professional relationships with multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.

Working within an innovative treatment framework, we take pride in our Trust community and are committed to providing you with a warm welcome and comprehensive support from your new colleagues to ensure a smooth transition.

Key Responsibilities

The service is dedicated to providing timely and suitable assessments and interventions that promote the recovery journey of young individuals, facilitating their transition back to local community CAMHS teams. The unit also aims to minimize out-of-area placements for youth across the designated regions, reduce the duration of inpatient stays, and enhance outcomes for young patients.

We adopt a progressive approach to psychiatry roles and are eager to collaborate with you to create a position that aligns with your professional aspirations. We are committed to supporting you in balancing high-quality patient care with the pursuit of your own interests within psychiatry, alongside offering avenues for leadership and management development. Whether your focus lies in honing management skills, engaging in research, teaching, or pioneering service delivery, we are here to listen and understand how we can assist you in achieving your objectives.

Job Duties

  • Participation in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical education.
  • Training contributions for other disciplines.
  • Providing educational supervision for trainees and other professionals.
  • Engagement in continuing medical education within statutory limits.
