Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated mental health teams at HMP Hull, HMP Humber, HMP Full Sutton, and HMP Millsike. As a key member of our team, you will provide clinical interventions to the mental health teams serving the populations of these prisons.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide senior medical leadership to the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and treatment to patients.
  • Contribute to peer supervision, providing guidance and support to colleagues on complex cases.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the service and the provision of effective care to each individual patient.
Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • CCT in Forensic Psychiatry or eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register.
  • Additional clinical qualifications, such as a qualification in medical education or clinical research.
  • Excellent clinical skills, using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • A high level of expertise in risk assessment and management.
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the post within the NHS or comparable service.
Transport and Disclosure
  • Holds and will use a valid UK driving licence or provides evidence of proposed alternative.
  • Subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, requiring a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
