MSF UK is seeking a skilled and compassionate Midwife to join our team. As a Midwife with MSF, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality maternity care to women and newborns in challenging and resource-constrained environments.
Responsibilities:- Provide pre- and post-delivery care to women and newborns
- Deliver babies, often in complicated situations
- Care for survivors of sexual violence
- Set up and manage maternity departments in new health centers and hospitals
- Work with community birth attendants to ensure safe community birthing practices
- Run awareness programs in the community
- Train local midwives
- Provide on-call care, often 24 hours a day
- Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Irish Nursing Board registration
- Two years of post-qualification experience
- Experience in supervising, managing, and training others
- Experience of obstetric emergencies and complicated deliveries
- Willingness to be regularly on call for difficult and complicated deliveries
- Over three months of experience working in a low-resource setting
- Adaptable and able to work in a multi-cultural team
- Flexible and able to manage stress
- Available for nine to twelve months
- Tropical nursing diploma
- Knowledge of STDs/HIV/AIDS
- Family planning experience
- Community midwifery experience
