Position Overview

A new opportunity has arisen for a Research Fellow specializing in the automation of vaccine bioprocessing. This role, situated within the UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering, aims to innovate pipelines and software routines that enhance automated experimentation, thereby advancing the digital transformation of vaccine bioprocess development.

Project Focus

The initiative emphasizes the creation of an automated platform for upstream and downstream process development and analytics. This non-code integrated technology is designed with a strong emphasis on resource efficiency and sharing. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of researchers at UCL and engage with various academic and industrial partners as part of the VaxHub Sustainable project.

Research Environment

The UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering boasts state-of-the-art research facilities, including a dedicated bioprocessing suite and a £25m bioprocessing pilot plant. The selected candidate will have access to expertise in modeling, digital bioprocessing, biosystems engineering, and metabolic engineering within Dr. Duygu Dikicioglu's research group.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in a relevant field such as Biochemical or Chemical Engineering, or a related natural science discipline, with a strong emphasis on programming skills and/or a keen interest in automation. Experience in biochemical analyses, analytical methodologies, molecular biology techniques, programming across various languages, computational workflows, or process automation will be advantageous.
