Position Overview
A new opportunity for a Research Fellow specializing in the automation of vaccine bioprocessing has emerged. This role, situated within the UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering, aims to create software routines and pipelines for automated experimentation, enhancing the digital transformation of vaccine bioprocess development. The project emphasizes the establishment of an automated platform for upstream and downstream process development and analytics, focusing on resource efficiency and collaborative resource sharing.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be part of a team of researchers at UCL, contributing to the VaxHub Sustainable initiative alongside various academic and industrial partners. The UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering is equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities, including a bioprocessing suite dedicated to vaccine research and a £25m bioprocessing pilot plant. The post-holder will engage in original experimental research, track project progress, and prepare research papers based on findings from these studies.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in a relevant field such as Biochemical or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline in natural sciences, with a strong emphasis on programming skills and/or an interest in automation (e.g., Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Genetics). Experience in biochemical analyses, analytical procedures, molecular biology techniques, programming in various languages, computational workflows, or process automation is highly desirable.
