About Our Team

AECOM's Nuclear Team provides multi-disciplinary consultancy to the nuclear industry in both the nuclear new build and decommissioning sectors. Our team is engaged on a highly complex nationally significant project for a MoD client, requiring multidisciplinary design and engineering expertise to collaboratively deliver the project.

Job Description

We are seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our team from January 2025 onwards. As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will be required to manage and report on your packages of work with support from Senior Mechanical Engineers in the team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and delivering mechanical systems and projects
  • Preparing written specifications and contract documents
  • Conducting design risk assessments and directive compliance assessments
  • Attending client meetings and providing technical input
  • Participating in testing and commissioning activities
  • Reporting non-conformities, incidents, and observations through the appropriate systems

You will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, including the design and delivery of mechanical systems and projects, and will be supported by a team of experienced engineers. You will also have access to AECOM's graduate development program, which includes instructor-led training sessions, online curriculum, and the opportunity to join the ADVANCE webinar series.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an IMechE accredited University
  • Previous experience in the design and delivery of a system or design project at University
  • A technical understanding of a technical subject of your choice
  • Ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents
  • Understanding of the IMechE code of conduct and the requirements of becoming a registered Member of the IMechE
  • Previous work experience and/or membership of a group where you have had to work as a team
  • Willingness to engage in learning the relevant design tools, techniques, and related methods
  • A basic understanding of design principles and ability to apply them
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present technical topics to an audience
  • A full UK driving license or equivalent that permits driving in the UK
  • Able to meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK
