Position Overview

Be a key player in our Digital Directorate, offering comprehensive technical support and services for all software and systems. Your efforts will contribute to the design, integration, maintenance, and support of interfaces and systems, ensuring they comply with our established Service Level Agreements. Work closely with our Digital Development Team Leader to guarantee timely project completion and adherence to specifications.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer with demonstrated proficiency in various development technologies and a minimum of five years' experience in your specialized area. Join our Development team and make a substantial impact as we aim to:

As a Lead Software Engineer with us, you will:

  • Ensure seamless integration between internal and external platforms, facilitating smooth data exchange.
  • Develop robust C# DotNet Core Microservices & Restful APIs, granting access to critical data sets and systems.

Responsibilities of the Role

As the Lead Software Engineer, you will report directly to the Digital Development Team Leader, acting as their trusted deputy within your area of expertise. Your knowledge will position you as the Trust's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for system development, interfaces, interoperability, package selection, and database management. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Providing expert insights and recommendations on hardware and software needs for Trust systems and interfaces.
  • Making informed decisions in complex scenarios, weighing various options.
  • Being accountable for the development and delivery of high-quality system integration solutions, meeting deadlines and ensuring thorough documentation.
  • Offering guidance to the team, ensuring the provision of high-quality technical support to clients.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent experience

Required Experience

  • Proficiency with Dot Net Core / C#
  • Experience in Azure DevOps (TFS) with GIT
  • Familiarity with RESTful API design and OData
  • Experience with container technologies - Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes
  • Background in developing and supporting system interfaces in a complex IT support environment
  • Experience utilizing 'Test Driven' Development practices

Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with WSL2 & VS Code remote containers development
  • Experience using AGILE methodology & SCRUM for software development.
  • Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows Operating Systems
  • Exposure to Health Integration Engines and their data protocol formats
  • Experience with xUnit and Moq for TDD
  • Familiarity with HTTP API debugging tools
  • Understanding of Microservice-based architecture
  • Experience with CI/CD Deployment, Ansible & Helm charts.
  • Knowledge of OAuth Authorization and JWT OpenId Connect Authentication
  • Understanding of API descriptor packages such as Swagger
  • Awareness of networking implications for container clusters
