We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic dietitian to join our team in providing high-quality care to children with diabetes.

The successful candidate will work closely with consultant and nursing colleagues to provide support and education to children and their families in managing their diabetes.

The role involves providing support and education to patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including the use of insulin pump therapy, and creating/adapting structured education courses.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support multidisciplinary team clinics and joint dietitian-diabetes specialist nurse clinics.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families in managing their diabetes.
  • Advise patients in face-to-face, telephone, and virtual group sessions.
  • Create and adapt structured education courses, such as carbohydrate counting.
  • Participate in student training and supervision.
  • Capture data to evaluate the service on a quarterly basis.
Requirements
  • Qualified Dietitian with a 4-year degree or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Leadership and management training.
  • Member of relevant BDA specialist group.
  • Relevant post-graduate course or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work as a lead member of a dietetic and multi-professional team.
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Able to adapt approach to varying situations and overcome communication barriers.
Experience
  • Extensive experience of working as a registered dietitian in a relevant specialist area.
  • Able to lead in the development, review, and implementation of relevant policies and service development.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-professional team working.
  • Experience in training and supervision of student dietitians.
  • Experience of managing and supervising others.
Contractual Requirements
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of the service.
  • Able to travel to required areas within and beyond the Trust.
  • Able to use a computer keyboard and relevant computer programmes.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £46,148 to £52,809 per annum pro rata.
